Virtual Film Viewer (VFV) for Android™

Current page describes VFV v. 1.1.3 (both free and paid) and contains VFV 3.0 screenshots.
VFV 2.2 screenshots and icons are slightly different.

Virtual Film Viewer is intended for happy owners and users of Virtual Film Maker for Android (both 2.2 and 3.0).

Virtual Film Viewer provides further grouping of existing virtual films into customizable categories and playlists and allows playing back any number of virtual films sequentially.

So, prepare some playlists, plug the HDMI cable into the TV, select play list or category and just select 'Play' command from the menu. Enjoy your virtual films collection.

And don't forget to set 'Full Screen' mode in Virtual Film Maker Preferences.

Playback uses Virtual Film Maker

Keep in mind that Virtual Film Viewer doesn't change virtual films, it considers them as "read-only" files.
For 'Open' and 'Play' operations it launches Virtual Film Maker.

It's assumed obvious that Virtual Film Maker is installed. For 'Browse' button to work, the external file manager should be installed. Both 'OI File Manager' and 'ES File Explorer' are supported.

Free Version Limitations

Free version is intended for quick acquaintance with the program and has some limitations, namely:

  • The Create/Clone/Delete category operations are disabled

  • The Category and Playlist previews are not customizable

  • The maximum number of playlists in free version is limited to 3

Scanning Virtual Films

The 'Rescan' procedure is intended to catch new virtual films and place them to the matched category. Match is based on the category keywords. Films that already belong to some category are not affected.

The 'Rescan' procedure starts automatically when VFV is launched first time. Next times the user launches the 'Rescan' procedure manually.

The 'Rescan' procedure scans all virtual films in the '/VFS/VFM' folder and subfolders - the default place where Virtual Film Maker stores virtual films. The 'Rescan' procedure places each new film into some category according to customizable category keywords list. Later user can move or copy any film to another category(ies) manually or use the 'Rescan' command in the context menu for categories and films.

For hundred films with 10-20 clips in each the 'Rescan' process could last some minutes.

Hint

If a user cancels the 'Rescan' procedure, then some films and/or clips could have no preview.
