Dialog 'Settings' icon.Dialog 'Settings'

The "Settings" dialog provides interface for editing user preferences and consists of 5 pages: "Common", "Playback", "Media Folders", "Recent" and a custom 'application' page.

First 4 pages are common for all transcribers and are described below. The custom application settings page is described on the application page - see MediaPad, WordPadT, Subtitler and Microsoft Word Transcriber Plugin pages for details.

Select "Transcriber\Settings" menu item in any transcriber application to display the "Settings" dialog.

Page "Common"Page "Common"

The controls on the "Common" page form 5 groups: "Common", "Confirm Action", "Startup & Exit", "Edit" and "Thesaurus". Note that each transcriber application hold its own set of "Common" settings.

Page "Common" looks like this.

The "Common" group contains check boxes for 'Tooltips' and 'Minimize to Tray'.

The "Confirm Action" group contains check boxes for 'Exit', 'Delete', 'Save' and 'Clone' operations. If some operation's check box is checked then the application prompts user whether to perform the corresponding operation or not. If box is unchecked then the corresponding operation is performed silently.

The "Startup & Exit" group contains check boxes for startup and exit preferences. 'Save Position' flags force the program to save the window and dialog positions on exit and restore them on startup.

The "Edit" group contains check box for 'Double Click Edit'. If 'Double Click Edit' flag is unchecked, then double click forces playback or other suitable action instead of edit.

The "Thesaurus" group contains check box for 'Open Last File on Startup' which controls Thesaurus startup behaviour in passive mode.

Click the "Restore Defaults" button to restore the default values for all controls.

Page "Playback"Page "Playback"

Page "Playback" provides controls for normal volume and rate levels, steps and loop parameters.

Note that each transcriber application hold its own set of "Playback" settings. When the transcriber application is 'Connected and Active' then its settings are used by VFS Player.

Page "Playback" looks like this.

Rate Step is measured in percent (default is 10%). Rollback (default is 5 seconds), Step Back (default is 15 seconds) and Step Forward (default is 30 seconds) are measured in seconds.

The "Loop" group provides controls for setting loop parameters.

The "Misc" group contains "Resume Play after Resize" check box.

Click the "Restore Defaults" button to restore the default values for all controls.

Page "Media Folders"Page "Media Folders"

The transcriber application inserts "Media Folders" dialog before standard "File\Open" dialog allowing user to select one of the favorite media folders. Additionally each time the user opens a media file, the transcriber application automatically saves the corresponding folder to the "Media Folders" list.

Page "Media Folders" provides the list of media folders as well as "Delete", "Delete all" and "Open" buttons. The "Open" button opens the selected folder in the Explorer window.

Here is how page "Media Folders" looks like:
