Connect and Connection State

Please, keep in mind that to make any of the transcribers work, the user should run at least two programs - VFS Player (server) and one or more transcriber applications (clients). Each of client applications acts just as remote control.

The client connection state is reflected by the 'Connect' button in the 'Transcriber' toolbar. There are three connection states. They are listed in the table below.

Button State Comment
'Connected and Active' state icon. Connected and Active If you run VFS Player first, then the lauched transcriber application connects to VFS Player automatically.

Only one of the launched transcriber applications is in 'Connected and Active' state at any moment of time.

'Connected and Not Active' state icon. Connected and Not Active If user performs any action that requires playback in 'Connected and Not Active' transcriber application, then the transcriber application switches to 'Connected and Active' state automatically.
'Disconnected' state icon. Disconnected If you run the transcriber application and VFS Player is not launched, then the transcriber state is 'Disconnected'. Lauch VFS Player and connect the transcriber manually.

Typically a user can run VFS Player and a set of transcribers. VFS Player supports up to 7 client applications. While all transcribers are connected to VFS Player, only one of them is in 'Connected and Active' state at any moment of time and its 'Connect' button is green.

Note that 'Connected and Active' and 'Connected and Not Active' states are switched automatically.

The connection state of the client transcriber applications is displayed in the VFS Player's Log Window.
