Bookmarks are intended to start playback of the
specific media file from the saved position.
Each bookmark contains 4 fields, namely:
The following table lists bookmark types and
the corresponding icons. Note that bookmark types (as well as icons) are
the same as VFS Thesaurus billet types.
Bookmark type is intended for convenient grouping and sorting.
Bookmark 'Memo' field is useful for searching.
The following 'Bookmarks' and 'Add Bookmark' dialogs are the same
in VFS Player and in all transcribers.
The "Bookmarks" dialog provides user interface
for editing bookmarks. The bookmarks are presented in the list with
the following fields - "No", "Time", "Url" and "Text". The
"Bookmarks" dialog allows sorting (just click in the column header)
and provides "Find" capabilities together with "Delete", "Edit" and
To display the "Bookmarks" dialog select "Options\Bookmarks"
menu item. The following "Bookmarks" dialog will appear:
To sort the bookmarks just click the corresponding
column header. The first click on header sorts the content in ascending
order, the second click sorts the content in descending order. The third
click on the same column header return "No Sort" state.
Finding a Bookmark
To find a bookmark type the required text in the "Find Text" field in the left bottom part of the dialog. As you
type the found record will be selected automatically. Press "Find
Next" button on the right of the "Find Text" field to find the next
record that contains the "Find Text" text.
Playing Back from a Bookmark
To start playback from the selected bookmark
press the "Play" button. Or double click a bookmark if 'Double Click
Edit' setting is unchecked. The changes will be saved automatically
and playback will start from the selected bookmark.
Deleting All Bookmarks
To delete all bookmarks click "Delete All" button
and then press "OK" to confirm the deletion.
Deleting Selected Bookmark(s)
To delete a set of selected bookmarks (use
multiple selection if required) press "Delete" button and then press
"OK" to confirm the deletion.
Double Clicking a Bookmark
The behaviour of double click depends on 'Double
Click Edit' setting. If 'Double Click Edit' setting is checked, then
double clicking on the bookmark opens the "Edit bookmark" dialog. If
'Double Click Edit' setting is unchecked, then double clicking on
the bookmark starts playback from the selected bookmark (the
"Bookmarks dialog" is closed and the changes are saved
Editing a Bookmark
To edit the selected bookmark press the "Edit"
button. Or double click the bookmark if 'Double Click Edit' setting is
checked. The "Edit bookmark" dialog appears allowing user to edit
bookmark data. The "Edit bookmark" dialog is the same as "New
Bookmark" dialog described below except the title window displays
"Edit Bookmark" text together with the record number.
The "Edit bookmark" dialog looks like this:
Note that dialog works with the temporary copy of
the data. When finishing working with bookmarks press "OK" to save
changes or press "Cancel" to discard changes. When double click
starts playback the changes are saved automatically.
To add a bookmark select "Options\Add Bookmark"
menu item while media file is loaded. The following "New Bookmark"
dialog appears with "Url" and "Time" fields already filled.
The "Url" field is read-only. Add some
text to the "Memo" field (this will help to find the
bookmark later), change bookmark time (if required) and press "OK"
to save the bookmark.
