Add Feed - Tab 'Properties'

Tab 'Properties' is intended for editing feed properties and is basically the same in 'Add Feed' and 'Edit Feed' dialogs.

Together with 'Name' and 'Description' tab 'Properties' contains fields that control the article prefetching for offline reading as well as the article's 'days to keep' property.

Tab 'Properties' looks like this.

Prefetching Articles for Offline Reading

Hint

Prefetching articles increases data usage which also uses more battery.

Property Description
Prefetch article for offline reading Usually when the feed is updated some new articles (date, title and description) are downloaded. If 'Prefetch article for offline reading' flag is switched on then the full article content is downloaded for offline reading.
User Agent for RSS Some sites return different RSS files depending on the HTTP request's 'user agent' field, providing different articles for desktop computers and mobile devices. 'Default' value means the default Android browser of the mobile device (usually 'Android'). 'Chrome' value means 'adult' Chrome browser.
Prefer 'canonical' HTML pages Some websites provide different article references for different clients (desktop computers, mobile devices and so on). As a rule all these articles contain a 'canonical' HTML tag which refers to the "original" HTML page. Sometimes this 'canonical' page looks better than special version for mobile device. If 'Prefer canonical HTML pages' flag is switched on then the application will download the canonical version of the article.
Download images If 'Download images' check box is switched on, then article images are downloaded. Otherwise the images are not downloaded and the corresponding tag is removed from the resulting html file.

The default value for this option could be set in 'Preferences'.

Download scripts If 'Download scripts' check box is switched on, then article scripts are downloaded. Otherwise the scripts are not downloaded and the corresponding tag is removed from the resulting html file.

The default value for this option could be set in 'Preferences'.

Hint

Usually downloading scripts makes sense, but they are not working 100% as expected. More...

Days to Keep

Property Description
Days to Keep The application saves all article data for a limited period of time measured in days from the date of the first download (aka 'days to keep').

The minimum value for this parameter is 1 day. Values that are less than 1 day will be changed automatically.
